Penfield Arts Center and RepARTee Gallery to open Oct. 17

October 4th, 2009

It’s been a busy summer and early Fall, but our renovations are finally complete! The RepARTee Gallery will be opening with our first invitational show on October 17 from 5 - 8 p.m. We’re located at 2131 Five Mile Line Rd., in the old historic library building. The show is free and open to the public, so spread the word! We’ll be showcasing the artwork of 50 accomplished local artists in a wide variety of mediums.

My studio is located on the second floor, so be sure to stop by and say hello if you visit the gallery during our open hours, Wednesday through Saturday, 1 - 5 p.m!

Penfield Arts Center to open soon

June 9th, 2009

My parents and I are currently in the process of renovating and converting the old historic library building located at 2131 Five Mile Line Road in Penfield into a new arts and cultural center, in which we plan to include an art gallery, art classes for adults and children, artist studios, and possibly, (once we have enough foot traffic) a coffee shop for artists to congregate and share ideas. At the moment, a picture framing business is considering renting space in the building and there is the possibility that we will have an art supply store sharing space in the building at some point, as well.

What I am envisioning is, basically, an ‘artist’s “hub” where creative people can mingle and a variety of artists, local art clubs, and art-related businesses can enjoy a symbiotic relationship. As artists and long-time residents of Penfield, my family and I are excited about the idea of fostering an interest and greater appreciation for the arts, as well as giving some new vitality to an old landmark in Penfield, which has been neglected and under-utilized for some time now.

We will be holding a brainstorming/informational meeting Thursday, June 18 at 7 p.m. Please contact me at 764-3493 if you are interested in attending. For anyone interested in teaching a class, I will have course proposal forms available. We are looking for instructors for a wide variety of classes –  from drawing and painting classes, to knitting classes/clubs, to book clubs and spirituality discussion groups….. Meditation classes, dream discussion groups…. anything that opens the mind and gets new energy bubbling!
